We are sorry to have to announce that the folk club has closed down. We had our last show in June of 2012. The cost of the rent was always an issue and unfortunately it was our undoing.
On a good note we hope to be reopening in a slightly smaller venue in Dover New Hampshire. The targeted opening date is somewhere near June of 2013.
Thanks you all for your support and we hope to see you soon!
Welcome to the online home of Elysium Arts Folk Club. We are located in the historic Lower Mills in Rollinsford New Hampshire. The mills are perched on the bank of the Salmon Falls river and it is truly a picturesque site. We are blessed to have such a lovely space and we hope we can do our part to add to the beauty that is Seacoast New Hampshire and Maine. Visit the Rollinsford web site for a brief history!
Why a Folk Club? For the love of music without the distraction of a restaurant or bar is the short answer! We will be serving fine quality coffee and tea and snacks but our main focus is the music. We want to provide a comfortable, homey, family oriented atmosphere where the music can shine. We also want to provide a venue that is comfortable and accessible for the performers.
Folk Club to us means a place where folk gather to hear music. Yes we love folk music but we want to make Elysium a venue that hosts all genres of music. From Latin to jazz to world music and everything between. We also want to bring together performers of different media to collaborate. Be it dance or poetry, storytelling or visual arts we want to develop a community of artists working together with the "folk" of the community. We live in a creatively rich region in this great country and we want to celebrate the talent of the local artist. We also want to bring artists from away to the Seacoast. Already in the first few months we will be celebrating our local performers at our Open House and then we will be hosting musicians from Spain, Germany, Scotland and Ireland.
Most nights will have a cover charge to get into the club. The cover charge goes directly to the performers. We think that the cover charge will be a small price to pay for the experience that you will get at Elysium.
Because the main focus is the music our food and beverage offerings will be high quality but limited. To keep with the feeling of community (and because it is all wicked good) we are offering White Heron Tea and Carpe Diem Coffee. Snacks will be provided from local bakeries and caterers. Snacks and beverages are how we are going to pay the rent so bring your dessert appetites as well as your appetite for good music to the shows!!
